Any guesses on my Bantam Silkie’s gender?

This is my first little bantam silkie I got at TC. I’ve read it’s impossible to sex them so young but I know some of you are pretty good at spotting genders so I thought I’d give it a whirl. We picked one that ducked down when you picked it up as opposed to one that stood up straight and tall. Shooting for a female but we will be happy with whatever we end up with.

This is Honey. She is 5 or 6 weeks old, I’m thinking 5 since she isn’t fully feathered yet...unless silkies feather slowly then .

She looks like my 5-6 week olds. Her comb looks like a walnut comb, so she should be reasonably difficult to sex until she’s a bit older. Quite a few of my TSC Silkies have massive single combs and are obvious roosters. She’s quite cute, though! Best of luck!

A Silkie we had gotten last year at 5 wks old had a bigger comb than yours and had already been crowing early.

She looks like my 5-6 week olds. Her comb looks like a walnut comb, so she should be reasonably difficult to sex until she’s a bit older. Quite a few of my TSC Silkies have massive single combs and are obvious roosters. She’s quite cute, though! Best of luck!

I only have a few pictures since most of them are too excitable for picture time. Two of them, though - Firefly and Gordon Ramsay - LOVE to ride around on shoulders. Gordon is the one with the crest, Firefly is the one without. They’ll each hang out on a shoulder while I’m feeding the horses, etc. and they’ve finally figured out how to not fall off. As you can see, their combs and wattles are much larger than yours’, but they’re also single combs instead of walnut combs. I have a few with walnut combs who can’t decide if they’re pullets or roos.

So cute!! We have an OEGB that does the same thing! It sure does make them even more lovable when they have personalities like that.

It certainly does! It’s amazing how their personalities can shine through at such young ages. I can’t wait to see how they grow to be - I’m crossing my fingers in hopes that my more cautious ones will decide that I’m not so bad.
