Any guesses on the genetic makeup of this guy?

I got this roo recently. I'm pretty sure he is a mixed breed. I thought that I had an idea of what the cross was until I looked at some other pictures tonight. So what do you think he is?

He stands very tall with a long neck. The last picture is what he looks like when he's walking.

Looks like my Barred Rock roos....Cept for his tail. But I have seen Barred Rocks with tails like his. And they were pure.

Im also leaning towards BR but it is a possibility that it is mix breed.

I'd say either BR or Maran. I agree with having seen some with black tails. I think its from trying to breed out a fault and the genetics haven't been cleaned up yet, but I think a lot of things

I would say a cross.. Mabe a Barred Rock cross.. A true Barred Rock would have a single Comb your bird looks to have a Pea Comb..

Maran or Barred Plymouth Rock, somewhere in the genetic soup.

You could get that comb from a Dominiker possibly.

I worked for a vet when I was a kid, and we'd play the "who's your daddy" game with the Frankenpups we'd get in. Your bird looks much prettier than the mutts, though.

He's a black star- or another name for a black sex-link. They are a hybrid or usually a barred rock and an RIR. I have 3 I'm trying to find a home for. They are big beautiful roosters, but they don't breed true.

I am not sure a black sex-link would have a rose or pea comb. It looks to me from the pic it could be a rose comb, which Dominiques have.
