He pipped in middle of egg but then nothing for 36 hrs so I tried to open it up in case he was stuck. He’s alive, but I’m not sure if he’s ready to come out or if he ever can in this position? What should I do?

Day 30 - I would finish taking him out but does it look like his blood vessels are ready to you? He still looks bloody to me:(

Not an expert, but I have hatched poults. He may be malpositioned. just as nuthatched said, a breathing hole would be good. I had 2 that were malpositioned and never made it out, it just happens sometimes. Were the temps low in incubation? I’d think the veins would be done by now, if he was ready, could just be slow.

When one of mine got shrink wrapped (hatched early and humidity was very low.) I gently applied a bit of coconut oil onto the membrane, and he hatched just fine.

Take this with a grain of salt, as I’ve only incubator hatched once, because I mostly rely on my broody ladies.

Here’s a helpful image of common malpositions, he may be one.
