Any idea of when Muscovies start laying?

I bought 5 muscovy ducks and one muscovy hen from a wonderful couple on this board! They were born mid-September. Does anyone know (approximately) when they will begin laying? We are in North Alabama (zone 7a).

Great. They are just turning 4 months old now!!! We are really looking forward to getting eggs and also having baby ducks!

Mine were full grown 07 or 08 and i have yet to see a eggfrom those moochers

Muscovies mature in about 5+ months.

My females have already began to start a clutch for a set.

So, the females should lay sometime this spring.

Will I be able to find their nest easily? They are penned up in my 120' x 60' garden. It used to be a tennis court.

I have a pair of hens that were hatched in April that are not laying yet. On the other side their mom is great she hatches ducklings and when we sell them she goes immediately to the boys to start over. She thought that we sold all of them when the pair of hens were young and went to the boys and came back to the 2 girls with a look like "What! I thought they were all gone!". Now I have 12 the same age as yours. I am waiting for warmer weather to worry about selling them because I know that she will start another brood. Is amazing when you think that she has the ability to lay at will!
