Any Idea On Breed(s)?

The person I got these from was told they were Penedesenca. We now think they are a cross of some kind of bantam as they are small birds. The cockerel just started crowing, pullet has not started laying yet.

they would have rose combs, and would most likely show some lacing. Both also look to large to be serama or sebright. Seramas are tiny and have short legs, and bantams have larger wings, so they look different. They also don't have the right stance to be one of those breeds, and the sebright rooster is hen feathered, meaning they don't get the pointed feathers(see picture).

they have partial white earlobes, its possible they are part Penedesenca, I don't know if they come in bantam size. Did they say why they where selling them? Maybe they are working towards the breed standard and these didn't have the right stuff? Did they happen to say what color egg they hatched from? Penes (should) lay dark brown eggs. How long have you had them, do you know what they looked like as chicks? You might have a better idea of what breed(s) they are when the pullet starts laying

Its possible they may have some Buttercup in them, I see a few barred feathers on the wing of the pullet, They also have blue legs and white earlobes.

Hmm..well I have a mystery on my hands then.
My friend bought the hatching eggs from someone online because she wanted chocolate egg layers. Guess I'll have to wait a few months to see what color egg the pullet lays.

I got the email address of the breeder my friend got the hatching eggs from. I sent an email with an inquiry about and the above pictures attached. This is what it said..
"They are Penedesenca. When they get older the Partridge will be darker brown and the wheaton will be straw colored".
Ok, now I'm really confused!

That doesnt make any sense. Those birds arent partridge or wheaton, almost looks a mix of the two colors. Your rooster has a mostly red earlobe, and they should be white.
Either that breeder had a chicken hop the fence and crossbred, or they have no idea how to properly breed to standard, and may have gotten the birds from a hatchery(who breed for egg laying more than breed standard). You cant breed 2 different color patterns together and expect to get pure colored chicks. They shoud have been able to tell you what color/breed your pair is, the way the email is worded suggests they dont know much about genetics. Neither of them have side sprigs on thier comb aswell.

I got some Partridge Penes from a hatchery a few years ago, I knew they wouldnt be perfect, but I was hoping Id get a decent pair or trio. Got chicks, straight run only, ended up with 7 roosters and 3 hens. They each only had one good trait, one had a right comb, one had blue leg, one had fully white earlobes, one had the right color pattern, etc. So I sold all the roosters as mixed dark egg layers and kept the hens, I figured I could at least use them for olive eggers. Well 2/3 hens laid a "regular" light brown, and the other laid a darker medium brown. So I sold the hens as mixed brown egg layers. I dont currently have any dark brown eggers, but I plan on getting penes again in the future, but this time from a breeder that preferedly shows so I am more likely to get good chicks.

This is another email I got from the breeder today:

"The Wheaton rooster will have a white spur. The Partridge rooster a dark spur. The hens are easy to tell apart. They get about the size of a leghorn. I think the hen is a Wheaton."

Have no idea as of breed but I have to agree with farmerChef on what he is saying. They are also very pretty birds! Might have some Nankin in them.
