Any idea the age?

We have 8 week old Buff Orp pullets...but we are trying to gauge how old our new Rhode Island Red is. She is not laying yet...so we know she is under 5mo at least. Any ideas or ways to tell?

looks like he might be the same age as the buff orps, and he might be a welsummer or brown leghorn rooster

would a rooster exhibit mothering behavior?? She/he has adopted a little easter egger that is younger than the rest and the hens are picking on her something terrible...excpet her. She keeps taking the little chick under her wing and protecting her from the other hens. When the baby starts screaming...she goes running to her side. Would a male exhibit that kind of behavior?

my profile picture is of a rooster that would mother any babies whether they were chickens or turkeys. Was funny to see 4 turkeys sticking their heads under his body and they were twice his size.
