Here are the two "black" Langshans. The bigger one (joe) is getting darker, whereas Bea is getting more white feathers in. Does she look like a crossbreed, or is this how a blue moults?

Here is Josephine, the largest of all the chicks, next to Pasquale the Rooster. The chicks were bought on 5/21, and they were probably a day or two old at the time. I read that Langshans do tend to be tall. Can anyone tell me if the chicks are likely to end up as Bantams or full sized birds?

And here is a close up of Mary's wing. What would the pattern be? She's not spotted, or laced and it's not quite barred...?

OH, and one more thing! My wife thinks Theresa, the Sussex may be a boy ("gut feeling"). Is it possible to tell this early? Any guesses? (the chicks were all purchased as sexed, but I know its something like a 90% certainty only)

Langshans come in both bantam and standard size. If these are standard chicks of any quality, good grief they are going to be monsters! Langshans are very, very large birds. They look like a big bird on stilts as they carry a lot of leg under them. Pasquale is a silver duckwing (color variety) and I'm going to guess he carries some bearded polish in him, but that doesn't explain the feathered shanks. His rose comb as well isn't normal for a polish, they have a V comb. What I find interesting is his tiny wattles compared to the size of his comb, but for a bearded polish, that is common to have very small wattles. He's quite stylish to say the least. Perhaps he is a cross between a favorelle and a polish since the beard and muffs are so prominent??? It's really hard to tell for sure. You can see some breed indicators but often times, when several phenotypes are expressed, you can only guess based on what you see. I know, that wasn't much help at all, was it? And it still doesn't explain where that gorgeous rose comb came from. Sorry!

Great looking birds. They should give you a lot of enjoyment.

I don't see anything that looks like Polish. I'm still holding with my first call on a Faverolle cross. Now, as to the other part of the cross... Given the comb, carriage, and color, I would say silver Seabright. He is a stunning boy, that's for sure.

Joe does look to be a Langshan but the other doesn't look to have the same build. I would almost hazard a guess that the other one is a Cochin.

Not sure on the Sussex.

Easter Eggers are mixed breeds so there is no standard, set color varieties. I would hazard a guess that by the way she is marked she will end up close to a brown leghorn. color
