Hello everyone, I hatched 9 eggs on Christmas and can't figure out what breed the black one is in the middle is. I have an idea but want to get your opinions. Is it an olive egger, Americana or something a little rarer? I am new to this so I am just going off what I have googled.

Kind what I figured. I had a mystery batch off eggs so hopefully some colorful eggs in another 2 moths or so.

What color were the eggs they hatched from?

That can help if there is likely any EE blood in them.

I'm not immediately seeing EE blood...I'm seeing mix breeds with the possibility that the pullet to the far back might be a brown leghorn (if from a white egg).

But most likely, just barn yard mixes.

If none of the eggs were blue or green, I wouldn't count on any colored eggs in the bunch. Even then your chances would only be 50/50.

These were the eggs. Red chicks came from brown eggs and black came from green.

The full grown chicken in the back lays blue eggs. She is about a year old.I hatched 4 roosters out of this batch also and gave them to a friend.

Mixed breed birds with blue gene from either Cream Legbar (suspicion CL mix in the bird in the back) or something else with the blue gene.

Just because it lays green or blue does not make it an EE. Only those birds with Ameraucana or Araucana parentage are EE's. There are other birds that lay blue/green as well (Cream Legbar and Isbar).

Chances are, due to availability of the different breed types, they are mutts with EE heritage or as I said CL heritage.

Fun backyard mixes that hopefully will lay some pretty colors for you too. But they are not breeds...they are mixes.
