So chicken math got the best of us again, and we came home with 5 new chicks and a gorgeous black Spanish turkey poult.
We got a silver laced Polish pullet, a Columbian wyandotte, a black Jersey Giant pullet, and two that have us a bit stumped. The bin that had the JGs supposedly had both black and white, and we picked a black and what we thought was a white. Also in the same bin were some kind of production red chicks and I think gold laced wyandottes. The lady who was helping us just grabbed a white chick and put it in the box, so we didn't get a good look at her until we got her home. Lo and behold--she has feathered legs! So wouldn't that rule out a white JG? I didn't think JGs had feathered legs...
Here are a couple quick pictures--any ideas? She has a single comb. I was thinking possibly white Marans, but they didn't have of those there...
And there's some dark coloring coming in on her wing feathers:
And then there's this one--they were in with the turkey poults and were supposedly black copper marans. However, last year, our BCMs chicks were black with white bellies, so obviously these chicks aren't the same. We're thinking splash Marans? Again, input would be greatly appreciated!
And just for the heck of it, here's the whole group, along with one of our 3 cochin pullets from earlier in the week.
