Any ideas or experiences with peafowl housing?

Anybody have peafowl? If so can I see your housing for them? Young and adult?

I do not have them yet but I was planning to use a corn crib as the run with netting at the top. I know you need to have netting over the run so they do not fly up and hurt themselves, well that is what I have been told anyways.

I’ve heard that and they need to be able to perch at least 6ft due to the males tails.

Yep, The males trains get to full length around the age of 3 I think. The do not like to have them touching the ground.

Here is my latest housing unit, four 12 x 48 foot runs on 9 x 12 coops. I am finishing it up in the next couple of days.

The outdoor roosts have to be installed as well as the back wall of the coop. The indoor dividers are complete but not shown in these pics. That is the best facility I have ever seen. They do love a 2 or 3 story barn though and here is a little secret: (You can let them OUT)

My final facility in Seattle was used for turkeys but are ideal for peafowl too. Both birds love to roost way up high. Note how tall the barn and the run are for their size and how high the roosts are. Barn was solar powered and had big skylights. Run was covered with a giant umbrella for Seattle rains 6-8 months a year. That is a huge geodesic dome (kit)
