any ideas?

I need a breed that is docile & friendly, that will produce about 4 large eggs a week, (pref. brown eggs) That seldom goes broody? Doe's such a chicken exsist?

Red sex links are docile, lay brown eggs and tend to keep laying in the heat and the cold. I don't know about the broody part.

Australorp, Rhode Island Red, New Hampshire Red, Wyandottes. I think also the Rocks, like Plymouth Rock or White Rock, and maybe Jersey Giant. Any can go broody, but it should not be common.

My giant cochins are the most doscile . They lay large brown eggs as well. Mine have gone broody but both my hens have hatched out their eggs and are now back to laying.

ISA Browns Fit the bill. Ours never go broody. They are so docile we have a hard time hearding them back into the pen at night after a day of free ranging. But this is only the first few days, then they behave.

The only problem I see is that you only want 4 eggs a week. The ISA Browns will lay a lot more than that................
