Any knife sharpeners out there?

My knives are never sharp enough. I have one of those dual wheel type
sharpeners and have tried a grinder too.

Today I picked up a sharpening stone. It's double siding with 2 different
grits.

It seems there are a million people online who claim to be the sharpening
gurus.

I'd just like some technique advice from one of my friends here.

Thanks

My dad retired after many years as the "Scissor Doctor". He used to travel to many Joann Fabric stores in various states. True, good sharpening really is a skill. I can't give you any "techniques" because I've never done it, but he always uses a grinding wheel. Even though he's retired now, he still has customers who mail their scissors and knives to the house and he sharpens and sends them back. If you are desperate to have good, sharp knives and scissors, PM me. His prices are very inexpensive and if you have good quality items, it pays to have them professionally sharpened.

Thanks. Most of my knives, except my Leatherman, are inexpensive.

If your dad can sharpen scissors he must be good.

Me neither which is why dad does all mine! And my pruning shears, lawnmower blades, gardening tools LOL!

Didn't mean for that to sound like a sales pitch...

This is a strange suggestion, but if you have any local dog shows going on around your area, there is always a vendor that sharpens items. Every dog show I've ever been to, I've seen a sharpening booth.

Probably not very helpful, but something to keep in mind...and they do an excellent job.

Most malls have sharpening too at a cutlery or knife store.
