Do they just automatically know when the eggs are warm enough, too cold, etc??? I am new to chickens as of last June. I have americaunas and black jersey giants. They are going to be a yr old in June. They have layed all winter and still are like crazy. I marked the eggs with a permanent marker that are to stay in the nest's and collect the rest. they have a pretty big coop. A red heat lamp pointed at the nesting boxes and a white lamp at the other end of the coop over the waterer, that one was mostly to keep the water from freezing in winter. Since it has been warmer weather I decided to try and let them hatch a few. Don't know if I'll have any luck but I have been told the hens know best.
