Any luck with correcting a prolapsed vent?

I have a chicken with a prolapsed vent. We have tried cleaning and putting it back in, but she just keeps pushing it back out. Is there a way to keep it in? I did talk to our vet today and she said that it is very expensive to treat and there is no guarantee that things will work. I am wondering if this is the end of her time.

I would try putting Preparation H or the equivalent product on her prolapse a few times a day. You can do that while you're trying to move it back in.

I had a chick that got a prolapse, and that's what I did, and it worked about 50%. It is growing up with a bit of a protrusion.
