The Buff Orpington is not, she has a crooked comb. The Barred Rock rooster is not, he has too many points on his comb, there should be five, he has ten. You should take more pictures of your other birds to know about them. However, a show quality bird can have faults, if you can present their strong points well enough, as yourself what's good, what great about your bird? What's your favorite part about them? How old are they, what's their breed? What's their standard of perfection?

The best way to judge one's own birds against those at poultry shows is to actually attend a sanctioned poultry show. There you'd see all these magnificent birds in all their glory.

Second best is perhaps to go to the website of each breed's club. Often they post photos of winning birds. Compare your bird to what you see. I often see just how far off my birds are and it makes me want to get better birds and breed better birds.

Honestly, the only way to get better birds for future breeding is to seek out people who have awesome, award winning stock ask not only for the help in getting better birds but also their advice and wisdom in getting started.
