I live in the South and in a subdivision. I have two hens now 6 weeks old and very cute! I designed the coop and run to fit into our small garden very unobtrusively. I have no smell coming from my girls as I keep it very clean. My neighbors are a little strange, one was so scared of a little garden snake she poured gas over it and set it alight! The other is a foreign doctor who, when my allsym was flowering in my garden was afraid ants would be attracted to the lovely honey-like smell! I have not discussed my chickens with the neighbors for obvius reasons and am just hoping for the best. Perhaps as more of us have chickens and people see they are not smelly the stigma hopefully will go away, but people are slow to change their opinions.
