How soon can you tell if these type of chicks are boys or girls? These little ones are 3.5 weeks old. Just by their behavior, I'd guess boys. I hope not, but I have a feeling...

Any takers? I'll post pics if you think it is worth a try. One feathered a little quicker than the other in the tail and one has more distinct barring than the other, but due to mixed parenting, not sure if feather color is useful or not.

I'm not an expert on Olive Eggers but my mother's EE hen hatched out 5 babies and I was able to guess the genders pretty accurately at 3 weeks. It really depends on the chicks. I knew for SURE that the copper/blue colored one was a roo, by both color and by personality. I was iffy on 1 and the other 3 I was certain they were girls by color and personality. It turned out I was right about the boy and the other 4 were female.

I'm not sure if I just got lucky guessing but it helps if you look at Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included* thread. There's a lot of helpful info in there. I think it took me almost a month to go through the entire thread but it's worth it.

edited to add : also take comb size and redness into consideration. The little roo was already getting pink in the comb by 3 weeks old.
