So I have a wild cat, well she really isnt mine just showed up at the barn a few months ago... wild as hell, well she is pure white, not deaf though ... I have tried to make friends ...

well she dont trust people...

well she had kittens in the manger of the barn..

well the first time I seen them she was gone .. so me loving animals had to play with them,
went in and got her some food, put it a bit away from the kittens, thinking that I am doing a good thing ...

so the next morning I go out to see the kittens... well she is with them.. so I move slowly towards them , she moves away,

SO I slowly reach down to pick one up .... she lunges at me .. tail all poofy... ears pinned back... claws out....

okay so I put the kitten down.. try talking to her...

she actually scared me ... I have been dealing with wild cats since I was a kid...

So I walk away, decide to come back later...

this time she runs up to the barn loft, so one of her kittens died so I give him a grave ..

So I came back in the barn, she was up in the barn loft, so I think whhooo hooo I am safe to pick up a kitten,

well we have a hole so you can drop hay in the manger, well I pick up a kitten, it starts hollowin,

so she jumps down off the hay in the top... THUMP...
so I look up and there she is total high ground gave me this look of death ...

so I promptly put the kitten down and back away ..

But I just wanted to play with the kitten ...

BAD TIMES I TELL YA ...

oh well hopefully she will come around,
I have noticed the most evil ones ... turn out to be the sweetest loving cats ... so maybe I can work some magic as long as I can retain my nerve ...

Stop touching her kittens before she kills them all... leave her alone. just put food in there for her to eat...

I don't think that she's not letting you touch the kittens because she doesn't like you. I think she's just being protective, and it would be best not to touch the kittens again, but it wouldn't hurt to become friends with her. Try taking it slow, giving her small tidbits of treats now and then, and make sure to stay away from the kittens. I know it's tempting, but it would be best if you didn't touch them.

I love cats but I stay away from my DD's cat. It is like Jekyll and Hyde.

He is all loving one minute and then nasty the next. This cat was rubbing all over my DH wanting to be pick up, so he did, and he doesn't like cats. This cat was purring away when all of a sudden, the cat slashed him across the nose. He was so

someone dropped a pregnant cat off on our cabin porch one night... and she made a home under the porch and had her babies. We were living there seasonally, so when we showed up in the spring, there were all these wild kittens. I tried to catch one and it bit THROUGH my fingernail, literally a hole all the way through my finger and the nail. I was pregnant at the time, and was convinced I was going to contract some sort of horrible disease. Weird thing is, I can't remember what happened after that? If we caught them and took them to a humane society? It's what I assume we did, but I don't remember at all...

she doesnt mind if I touch the kittens she just dont want me to pick them up, she just doesnt know people I think, I just went out there and she is fine, it is just a few of her kittens are sick, probably from inbreeding I believe, she is a wild cat, she lets me sit by them as long as I dont pick them up, she didnt kill her own kittens , it just died because it was sick, so that is why I check on them, one is really heathly, the other is still kinda iffy.. so we will see.

everyones afraid of my dads cat. her name is skittles . my brother called her neuro cat. she is crazy. pins the kids at the top of their stairs so they can't get down. my dad had to get her declawed so she can't grab people with her claws

I have only known two cats I was leery of.
One was a friends big orange cat when I was little. He knew he was intimidating and would wait to attack people when they were walking down the hall to go to the bathroom.
The second was a cat that another friend brought over here because they couldnt take her since they were moving. She was supposed to be "such a sweet" cat. Well, maybe with them, but she was vicious! I thought with kindness and time she would get better but she never did.

Sounds like she is just being a good mama, trying the best she can to protect her babies. Actually, it's great that she is letting you near them at all. I wouldn't pick them up again though, at least not until their eyes are open and they're a little more independent of her. You don't want to disturb mom too much. Kittens have a narrow window of time in which they can be acclimated to people, I think it is by 5-6 weeks. After that time, it will be much harder to bring them around. Petting them and letting them get familiar with your scent will help them to not be feral. Try gently talking to the mom while you are visiting. Bring her some high value treats, such as cheese.

as others have said, don't pick up the kittens anymore. the best thing you can bring mama cat would be wet (canned) kitten food. the extra fat and protein will help her to stay nourished while nursing the kittens. once they are around 8 weeks old it would be ideal for you to trap the mama and take her to a vet or shelter to be spayed, and adopt the kittens out. there are feral cat programs that will spay/neuter, vaccinate against rabies, and rerelease into the wild if the cat cannot be tamed enough to be homed.

my own cat was one of a litter from a feral mama. i was working as a vet tech assistant at the time when a couple brought in a mama and her 3 kittens. they wanted to spay the mama and take her home (they'd been working for 2 months to get her comfortable around them), but they left the kittens with us to tame and adopt out. those babies were FIERCE! i was afraid they'd never get used to people, but the other employees and i worked with them over the next month. they turned out to be really sweet once they figured out we weren't scary. i fell in love with the little black cat, who i named simon, and eventually convinced myself he was mine.
