any one else ever been afraid of a Cat?

I housesit for a lady with 2 barn cats. One is such a good guy and a gentleman and the other does not like me period. I have already been scratched by this cat several times. The last time was yesterday when all i was doing was moving a bale of hay and it reached around scratched the tar out of me. And this time it is really sore and bruised.

The kittens eyes are open they are about two weeks old, and yes she is being a goos momma, the problem is the lady down the street has like 50 plus cats so if I take this one more always show up at my house, it is horrible she doesnt spay anything,

that kinda stuff really gets on my nerves...

she doesnt mind me petting them, but I dont want the kittens to be mean like her, only one of them will live though, the other wont make it I can tell by looking at it,
I have een it before, and if I had a cage to put the momma in I would catch her now.

I have been taming feral cats since I was a kid, just takes patience, and yes there is feral programs to spay about 30 minutes away from here

just have to wait a bit to get it done,
as long as something dont get her kittens first, we have dogs that kill kittens and cats around here,
that is one reason why she is a bit agressive I am guessing,

but any ways not for sure what I will be able to do with her yet ... really depends on her.

and I dont mess with her a shole lot I check on her an her kittens about three times a day , and feed her what she will eat.

I've had barn cats and had my share of them lOL!

Well, mother cats are protective but tolerant of humans but they do not normally kill their kittens when a human scent in on them. At least ours never did!

Distemper are bad and it spreads like wildfire. Many times kittens would die and for those who has survived it, either be a little messed up in the brain OR built resistance to it. We had lost alot of kittens that way to this disease and the Feline AIDS are bad too. Distemper are so common in feral cats as my vet informed me.

I agree with the others, she's just being a momma.

I had a feral around here that was practically crazy scared of people. I snuck up and touched him once in the barn and he took off like a pinball, ricocheting off equipment, walls, whatever - just kept moving. I thought he might be the neighbor's deaf cat that got out by mistake and that would explain his SUPER skittish behavior. But no, he was just wild.

Took me about a year and a half to tame him. Once I did, he was a little teddy bear! It was nice to see him stop getting into tomcat fights and being torn up. He just hung around our house and waited to be loved on and fed. He died about 6 months later, probably Feline AIDS or Leukemia. But I was always happy that he had 6 months of a loving family!

We have an insane stray in our neighborhood. It attacked my neighbor sending him to the ER for stitches. He then had to endure the entire rabies shot series. The same cat two weeks later killed both of my 2-month old australorps. Animal control has been trying for 2 years now with no luck.


I personally love cats, in fact I prefer them to dogs. However if I see this one again it will be the last time anyone sees it!!!!

She won't kill her babies if you touch them but she will come after you because she's protecting them. She doesn't recognize humans as friendly because she's probably been chased by so many trying to run her off. Her babies are helpless and like any human mother she'll do what she sees necessary to protect them. Just keep delivering food, maybe find a stool you can sit on about 10 feet from the food and her so she'll get used to you little by little. It won't happen over night and depending on how abused she's been it may never happen completely.

Cats DO kill their kittens sometimes..if they feel threatened and get a human scent on their kittens... (remember shes a feral/wild cat...)
they DONT like strange scents in their "nest" area...its a very strong instinct in feral cats...thats why they move them around sometimes... they dont want to attract predators. or tom cats that will kill the kittens.
Shes a feral cat and dosent trust humans... AND shes already moved them once...that should have told you something right there..
I'm just saying... dont push her too much... if shes attacking you...you need to leave her alone and not stress her out! Because they CAN kill or abandon their kittens..
Thats all i'm saying..do what you want..its your barn...
