Any one feed their ducks tomatoes?

The only studies I've seen on the subject that have said that concluded vines were safe dealt with cattle, and according to Toxic Plants of North America, a pound of leaves is a toxic dose to a human. If I were to do the math on that based on body weight toxic doses are easily achievable by an overzealous duck in the garden.

I'll continue to hold back on tomato plant matter, though that's easy since I never plant much in that family anyway.

My ducks won't eat any fruits or veggies that aren't green. But the chickens like them. They like strawberries too. I threw some sliced strawberries in the pen the other day and the ducks ignored them but the chickens liked them. One would snatch up a piece and run away, and the others would chase it instead of just getting their own piece. Too funny to watch.

Mine won't eat red things either. They have a strong preference for green. But they like a little dry cat kibble.

Mine go insane for tomatoes. They will chase each other for each piece. They got into my garden several times last year to steal them right off the vines...and eat the leaves. They are still fat and healthy and I think the fear about tomato plants has been overblown.

My Duckers are exactly the same, they go MAD for tomatoes!!!!! To the point of taking my fingers off if I'm holding on to some

They don't get them every day though, just a couple of times a week. It's peas that they get everyday, for breakfast, and they LOVE those almost as much. As for tomato leaves, I've also heard that they were toxic, so I haven't let them eat those.....

Tomato leaf pesto!

My ducks occasionally browse on tomato plants when the mood strikes them. They looove the ripe tomatoes and tomato hornworms.
They are not fond of frozen green peas, just leave them to dry out and bleach in the sun. I have this giant bag of them in my freezer from Costco. Trouble is I don't like peas much either... Time to give the ducks another bowl full and see if it's grown on them.

This is probably 4 to 5 years late, but being a recent duck momma of 6 months, my ducky absolutely loves tomatoes and eats everyday for every meal and probably dreams about tomatoes. Im pretty sure they are fine, but like humans, even ducks can have reactions to certain foods whether toxic or not. Just be careful. But mine has been going strong so don't fear
