Nope! There is at least one-- when we were deciding where to move to -- I researched city ordinances allowing chickens--
LOVED SONORA-- (quaint, cute, quiet and Sloooowww)-- but guess what THEY DO NOT ALLOW CHICKENS in city limits ! And we had found a really cool old house downtown....
I dont think its fully enforced (one of the houses we looked at there had a beautiful chicken coop, and you could see another one in use at a B&B there)...
But I called and talked to the City Hall person and she confirmed this, that technically no "barnyard animals' and a pretty strict limit on dogs and cats as well (we had 6)..
Luckily we found the other side of the Sierras to be much more accomodating- and have a really fun space up above Grass Valley and have 11 chickens now...

PS it really makes a difference if you are In town, or just outside the borders-- cause then Coutny not city ordinances apply to you-- here, instead of being limited to like 12, we can have (forgot exactly) like 100 per acre and we have 2 acres... You are in Modesto, I think you are Ok there...
