About to get our first Chickens. Four or five. A local farm has Rhode Island Red x White Rock Egg Layer pullets (male RIR x Female White Rock). Does anyone have any experience with this cross? I hear they are great, personable, hens. I have read that they lay great for two or three years then drop off. How much do they drop off? With five birds I don't need every one to lay every day but I don't want a bird that will only give me one a week either. I am sure I can find other breeds for sale in my area but I like the look of this small farm and want to support them.

Thanks

I've not had that exact cross, but they should be great layers and nice backyard birds. both those parent breeds are backyard classics, good steady dependable layers of nice brown eggs. If the place looks nice and the birds healthy, I'd buy some for layers.
