Read that chickens eat plants but wonder iris and daffodils are toxic is why deer etc wont eat them or moles etc... and someone said their chickens didnt eat iris but are their other plants that are really toxic they MIGHT eat free ranging and get sick?
Just wonder as my grass is just whatever grows here in the rural areas ...i call it "field grass" as it is part of the field.a big mixture of everything.Nothing actually planted.

I have Deadly Nightshade and Poison Hemlock in my yard, and the chickens free-range about it. Ignoring the bad part. Though the chickens did eat only the ripe Deadly Nightshade, but didn't get sick, they actually devoured it. Chickens are pretty smart about what they eat, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Yes, they are both toxic. Here is a really well done, easy to understand list:

I have been going through my yard trying to erradicate all my toxic plants. I had no idea how bad it was! I do have a some I just cant get rid of, but I hope with planting good plants I will keep them from chowing on the bad ones.

The problem is now that my three little girls do not seem to like some of the good things or snacks they are supposed to enjoy! Lettuce, watermelon, cucumber, for example, have all been ignored...

They do like hibiscus leaves, though!
