I have three, three wek old aussies, all three of which have a good bit of comb growth for their age. Is there any known ways to sex these buggers or is it the old "wait and see" game?

I was wondering the same thing! I have two and they don't look the same. One has tail feathers coming in, the other doesn't. And the one with tail feathers has longer wing feathers. The other ones wing feathers are shaped different. Now that I think about it, I have 3 other different breed pairs that are exactly the same as my australorps. Different wings w/ no tail feathers coming in. Hopefully someone can maybe give us clues although most likely it's the waiting game. Thanks for asking this question!

I would love to know too as I'm convinced that my five-week old "girl" is a roo in disguise!

At about 3.5 weeks my BA roo showed a bigger comb than his hatchmates. His legs were noticeably bigger and thicker. His feathering, esp. on his back and tail, was delayed. His chirp was different--deeper and more harmonic. The differences became more obvious over time. he began wattle development at maybe 5 or 6 weeks. Hope this helps.

Here is my australorp. Finally stated getting a tail at 3 weeks! Growing so slow. Has long thick legs, but stays lower to the ground. hardly any comb yet. Does not like being handled at all! Body pic is him/her now..4 weeks old...any guesses???
