Any readers here? Need some suggestions!

As a girl in her later teens, the only suggestions I can ever get are for "teen" books. Our library at school has very little adult books, and I cannot stand the teen books that are being pushed on me all of the time.

My favorite books tend to be mysteries and thrillers, but I also like other books, especially if they involve animals. Some of my favorite books are:

1.) Desperation by Stephen King
2.) Deception Point by Dan Brown
3.) Water For Elephants by Sara Gruen
4.) My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult
5.) Watch Them Die by Keven O'Brien

I also loved the book "The Daily Coyote" by Shreve Stockton, which I reccomend you all check out. The pics and story are stunning.

I'm getting tired of alternating between Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Mary Higgins Cark, and Kevin O'Brien, and I need some new blood in my reading life. It doesn't have to be a mystery or thriller, just good and not whiney or super lovey. Any good suggestions?
 
There are so many but here are a few I would recommend - Patricia Cornwell's Scarpetta series, the Twilight books, all of Dan Brown, all of Nicci french, Frances Fyfield. I enjoy Robert Goddard, Tami Hoag, of course Harry Potter, - can't think of anymore at the moment.

Sue Grafton is wonderful, she's the alphabet books...
A is for Alibi
B is for Burglar

It's a series with the same characters but you could start with anyone of them and have no trouble following it!

I also love Janet Evanovich, she does a number series One for the Money, Two for the dough, etc.

I like to find a good author and read everyone of their books the library has and then I move onto the next author!

I know there is a mystery series which has a cat in it, and one chapter is from one point of view and the next chapter is from the cat's point of view. Can't remember the author but they have a ton of books out. Just wasn't my cup of tea!!

Papillon by Henri Charriere (The Patrick O'Brian translation is the best but hard to come by in North America) - I read this book more than 20 times as a teenager. I saw the movie and HAD to read the book.

By the way, I LOVED Water for Elephants.
 
A lot of good suggestions!! What about some of the classics/oldies??? I love 'To Kill A Mockingbird', dont' laugh but I also like some of the old russians and used to read them as a teenager ( Anna Karenina, War & Piece etc.) Have you read "Marley & Me" or any of Cleveland Armory's books ?
 
You bet! I was a teen who didn't read teen books either so I understand completely.
