This is my first time owning Saxony ducks. Right now they are only one week old, but it is kind of hard to find good detailed information on the breed. Well, other than the general info anyway.
- How old are they when they start to get their feathers?
- Can you immediately tell from their color/markings if they are male or female? I've seen adult photos of the breed, but I read somewhere that the males can be lighter on occasion and look more like the females.
- As adults, are they as cold tolerant as Pekins? I live in PA and winters can get pretty darn cold.
- Are they loud? My pekins aren't very loud at all.
- Are they broody? I currently have two pekins, who are a year old, and the female has no interest in laying. I was hoping to have a little more luck with the Saxony breed.
- Are they good egg sitters/parents?
- At what age could they start to lay eggs?
Thats all the questions I can think of at the moment, but any other information on the breed would be helpful.
