Any sexperts out there?

@Tricia479
As promised, here's what I'm looking at with my pair for you to reference.

My hen:

With her, the color is very subdued, no comb to speak of, and just a single bar on the wings. Not to be mean about it, but at this age, she's the "ugly" one of the group.

Now here's my roo:

The wings are a totally different story here. Very clearly defined barring. And I was still holding out hope on this one - as this pic was taken about a week ago.

But here they are nestled together this morning - and look how far the comb has developed in just one week. Suffice to say, the writing was on the wall (or his wings) a week ago, and now it just confirms it.

I now 100% have a rooster and a hen...and not thrilled about that. Good luck to you with yours though. As with all people on here - I'm rooting for you to have a hen.

Good luck! I’m wrestling with the same issue .

You know, with this run on chicks this year due to COVID, the whole "90%" accuracy that the feed stores and hatcheries tell us, might be way more off than usual. I mean, most say it's like 70% accurate in the end, but I'm seeing a lot of 50/50 results out there in the chicken world. It's almost like the demand was so high, they just sold everything labeled as sexed in a straight run fashion.

My store had the signs posted wrong...then when I questioned them...they downplayed it and said they were 90% pullets.
I am one of those first timer chick owners but had the itch for a long time. The local farm and home was a terrible experience. Not helpful at all. Very grateful to have this sight and you all to offer guidance! Makes a huge difference.
