Hello everyone,
I wanted everyone suggestions to keep smell down and drainage. Right now I have pea gravel which worked well but I have flakes that have mixed with it which doesn't help. being able to stray the ground and get rid of the feces helps. But I want to keep the flies away, and help decrease the smell. I dont know what to do. I want to switch to sand but I'm not sure.

Ducks are hard to keep clean and dry. Deep litter can help. Sand doesn't really drain once it's wet and is hard to clean. Increasing their area can help, but there's always going to be some amount of wetness and smell.

I free range my ducks most of the time, so I don't really have issues with this.
But I have leaves in my run, and it helps. The only water source is a goat trough elevated off of the ground. It gets messy under there because they're always standing there drinking. I use a shovel to clean it up every once and awhile.
Space is important, so if possible I would increase it as much as you can.
