I have a one year old Production Red Hen that has been lethargic for about five days or so, slowly following behind the other 8 girls, just not having the same vitality and eating little. The last two days she has been in a corner of the coop, not going out, comb looks dark and droopy. I checked her crop and her vent, not full and no obstructions. Does have some light green poop on her tail feathers, but can't seem to find any recent poop to see what it looks like. I don't think she is even eliminating right now. She eats and drinks very little, and only if I put it in front of her. She appeared to have a slight limp, but can move, although very slowly at this point. She does still fly up on the roost with the other birds at night. The rest of the chickens are totally fine and are not bothering her, which is good. I am thinking of moving her inside for a bit, maybe trying to get some other food in her.

Any ideas or suggestions? I looked up chicken diseases and could not find anything that seems to match.

I'm having the same problem too. I just lost a hen (Penny) and have 1 other that is starting out the same as my Penny. Her poop is foamy yellowish/white. I treated Penny like she had been egg bound, but she never got better. What did you find out, or what happened to your hen?

I lost Penny, then Millie today. All same symptoms, so I did a necropsy and found Millie was egg bound. It was a mess. I feel so bad, I did all that I knew to do. They get the best feed, oyster shell, yogurt and cottage cheese for extra calcium. I have read in this forum that some production layers have this problem, getting egg bound. This first batch that is dying off never stopped laying eggs, even in the winter. Their bodies are just giving out.
