Any suggestions on brooders for my chicks?

I think that is. We used cardboard boxes for our chicks...DON'T. They got very damp and rather disgusting, I use a cat carrier for my 4 Serama chicks. MUCH better. A tubberwear should work fine.

Welcome.

I use watermelon boxes with a heat lamp and pine shavings.

There are also a couple of boards in there to set the waterers and feeders on so they won't get messy. They will anyway, but it helps.

I use a Rubbermaid Stock tank that sprung a leak. It's about 2.5 feet by 4 feet by 2.5 feet high. I just use Pine shavings, with a block under the waterer and feeder. The tank has a ridge about 8 inches up that works great for a small roost that they love. I also made a sliding screen for the top to keep the cats and dogs out. It's easy to clean when I am finished with it.

I have used a couple of large boxes fit togther and then taped. I used puppy pads with paper towels on top. If you change the pads and paper towels every day or more often even this worked really well for me. The puppy pads make for quick easy cleanup, just rollup and thro, put new down!

When the chicks outgrew the boxes I got a Walmart fruit bin with pine shavings for bedding, these things worked good for me.

I bought the wire rabbit cages from TSC after having cardboard boxes, they are much easier to clean and as they grew I just attached another wire cage and took down the wall between. Gave them plenty of ventilation. One word of caution on the plastic tubs, put a hole in it in case your waterer leaks. Always get a few posts talking about chicks drowning or getting wet and dying because the plastic tub holds the water in.
