Any suggestions on how to trap a gator?

This guy was seen by a neighbor last week exiting our property by way of our driveway! So far, we're not missing any chickens (or dog). Does anyone out there have any suggestions? We don't have a pond on our property, but there is one about 1/2 mile away. Could he just be passing through?

Saw him on Brahmalot. I would check local ordinances and see if you are allowed to dispose of him. In PA we can dispose of wildlife killing our flocks.

Call your local Game Warden and ask. I know the ones in East Texas have to do a lot of gator removal - they even have a course in it when they are in training to be a warden!

It depends on the state you live in. In Florida you have to be licensed to trap gators. I would guess he was just passing through if you have no water on your property.

A big net?

Personally I would let it be and let it move on. Hopefully you have a perimeter fence for any pets or livestock to keep wandering gators out. If it is a worry then I would contact a game warden for removal. They should have experience and knowledge as far as best place to relocate.

Well, he/she hasn't been seen since. Hopefully it was just passing through. We don't have a pond or even a wet area of the property, so we aren't really gator friendly. Plus, the chickens and the dog were in the back yard so it couldn't get them. It certainly has made me very observant of what's in my yard right now - there he is, no, that's a log. Is he under the shed? How about in the ferns? Yup, I'm jumpy! The shotgun is at the front door.
