Any teachers?

Yes, Washington is a Test 'Til You Die state!. It starts in 3rd grade with reading and math, 4th does reading, math, and writing, 5th does reading, math, and science, 6th does reading and math...that's as far as I know. sigh... So stressful!

Today was kind of funny. I'm not sure if it was funny strange or funny ha-ha yet. Ask me tomorrow! I came to work with a killer migraine, but it was an early release, so I figured I'd survive okay. Then, about 30 minutes into school the principal came in and asked what I'd be doing for 5th grade math today. I told him, and he said he'd BE IN TO OBSERVE. Okay, am I the only one who stresses about that? So by the time he came in I had killer migraine topped with killer migraine meds, and a squirrelly 5th grade class. Plus, and only a teacher would truly understand this part, I really had to go to the bathroom, but it was another hour until lunch. It was kind of a comedy of errors! I think I'd gone beyond the pain and had crossed the line over to giddy. I THINK the lesson went well, but we'll see what the write-up says.

Well, the chickens are in bed, the kids are finishing their evening snacks, and tomorrow is a new day.

Let's give this thread CPR!! It deserves to be revived! We talk to kids all day (When do we even SEE an adult? Really...), and it's be really fun to talk to in-the-trenches chicken-lovin' teachers on BYC.!!!

Looking over my previous posts from a year ago, I note:
--I'm still behind in my grading.
--My blood pressure meds are working (for now) to keep me from stroking out before state tests this year.
--My squirrelly 5th grade class is now a squirrelly and hormonal 6th grade class. But they DID do really well on the state test last year...enough that our little school is now a Washington State School of Distinction for Science. (We only have 1 class per grade level at our district, and science is tested first at 5th grade, so I can reap some credit, here.)

Anyway, c'mon guys! Start writing!

I was behind on grading too!
Just got caught up and now am getting stuff ready for field. I love to end the day checking out the latest posts.

I am in the middle of my spring vacation and in the midst of a turkey hatch. It is really funny how all of my teaching friends are following the hatch from Florida and other areas. I had good intentions of getting some paperwork done this week, but it is much more fun tending to the animals.
