Any tips for getting a job with little work history?

I can't say this enough - SPELL CHECK!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you have a cutsey email address, use yahoo or something and make a professional one. I am hiring right now for an Office Assistant and I can't tell you how many resumes have come in with handwritten corrections, cutsey emails, misspelling, bad grammar and not tailored toward the position being offered.

i hate to admit it but people hire people who they remember! They really don't care about the education cause everyone they see usually has one. Find a commonality, look around their office. See a picture doing something, talk about it! Next thing you know your chatting. People will remember ,hey that person who i chatted with was really nice, spoke well and personable. Puts you at the top of the list. they don't care who you saved or where you been, unless you have been the same place or saved the same thing. they remember you cause you triggered a conversation.

Before i became a stay at home mother i had a career. A good one to boot! i have done hiring for several places. It was the ones who felt comfortable and friend like, i hired! Every pretty face with a perfect body starts to blend in the head. it was the ones who i chatted with i remembered. Sorry people hire off emotions and feelings about someone, not what's on the paper. They through the paper in a bin with all the others. Not saying it's right but true.

I have beat out many well educated people just by being me! And i am not the smartest person or the most educated, i just talk the talk and walk the walk....ya dig~ LOL

Good luck and give it time~

As someone else mentioned, a temp job may be a good way to get a "foot in the door" or at least a reference. Same with internships, even if unpaid, at least you will get experience and a reference.

Ask friends if they know of jobs within their company. Many places only advertise within the company at first.

When going to an interview, research the company. Come in knowing a lot about it, and have some questions that show your knowledge and interest.

Good luck.
