Any tips on choosing Orpington Pullets for a newbie?

Hi!

Thanks for reading this. A breeder has a bunch of Buff Orpington babies (3 or so weeks old) and I am going to go out and choose a few because they are my dream chicken. The chicks are straight run and I was hoping someone may have a suggestion of characteristics for pullets vs. cockerels at this age? Will it just be a crap shoot or is there a way to make a more educated guess when choosing?

I appreciate any thoughts you may have.

if all the same age, take the ones with more feathering but smaller combs with no reddness and no wattles, make sure they also have thinner legs.
