Any tips on making a compost pile?

I've been trying, but the chickens just keep scratching it all over. Any tips?

Same problem here... BUT I have fenced mine in with a hard plastic netting so it does not go everywhere with all the birds jumping and playing about on them. works a treat, just keep adding to it Shelley, and all will be well...........

Yeah, I'm thinking I'll have to do something like that. It's gotten so bad that the chickens follow me to it when I'm taking a brooder bin to dump!!

I have 2 - 1 that I'm okay with chickens "playing" in, and another that I'm serious about... Chickens dont belong in the mix if you want nitrogen and carbon and worms to be working in harmony with your chicken poo, kitchen waste, etc.... This is the one they DONT get in even though it's in "thier run" for convenience of tossing thier "gold like poo"... The other one, yeah it's fun for them, doesnt really work though!
