.. that the first to hatch are little cockerels? I guess it is hard to confirm, because by the time you know what sex they are, who can remember which hatched when! But I was just curious if anyone had any info on this. Thanks!

Every chick to date I have ever hatched (save for one) the 1st in the clutch has been a cockeral. My last hatch speckledhen's egg from Meggie hatched out first. It's a boy.

Only once did a male not hatch first - I had a hatch of 8 little orps and all 8 were females.

My first hatched was a mutt that sure acted like a cockerel... named 'him' Pistol Pete...... but now 'his' name is Henny Penny and 'he' lays me a nice tan egg just about every day!

She still acts pretty cocky though
