Any way to mark chicks to tell them apart?

There are a few girls we can tell apart but they look a lot alike.

Is there something I can put on their legs or some way to mark them?
The kids have given them all names and want to know which is which. LOL

Plastic cable ties around their legs in different colors. Just make sure you leave them loose and replace them before they get too tight to cut off.

I'm assuming yarn would get eaten or picked off.

We sell a colorful.multipack at advance auto. They cost 7.99 for 100 and come in 8 different colors. Dollar general has them also.

I saw leg bands at a couple of poultry supply companies online and at McMurray also. The ones at the auto place are probably cheaper though.

Home Depot has them too. They are in the electrical section where they sell cable and wiring.

DH mentioned food coloring or something like that. A little dot maybe.

Food coloring on their head or stomach...safe, lasts for two to three weeks, then I put leg bands on.
