I have a loving Drake, incorrectly called "Big Duck" Also Quackman, also Big Quacking Boy. He follows me around like a dog, loves to play and have his bill massaged. Love the guy but he is so super horny he is hurting my Ducks.

He is constantly on top of them, and he is nearly twice their size. My favorite Duck, Ms. Quackette was found totally lame this morning. I think one of her wings is sprained, she keeps hunching it up and she cannot stand up so I have to carry her around bringing her water.

I have separated "Big Duck" from her and the two daughters but they are all upset now. Is there any food I can give the guy to stop his sex drive? I just don't have the time to keep them separated with separate feedings and water bowls but I have no choice cause he hurts the ducks.

Any suggestions? Thanks, Ray

Attempting to revive this thread or thought a little…I’ve been reading extensively about Caponization, especially in chickens. For example, the backyard flock owner that wants the positives of a rooster without the negatives. Then I digressed into drake neutering. Obviously, there are anatomical differences that make neutering waterfowl a bigger issue than in landfowl, so is a chemical/pharmaceutical approach more feasible?
I know some people mentioned melatonin, which I think just makes the subject more…sleepy? So I was also wondering about Chasteberry or Vitex in drakes. I found a study on quail that covered everything, except sexual behaviors or their suppression of Vitex in fowl.
Anyone have any thoughts or experience on this? Supposedly monks chewed on it to suppress urges, it has wonderful polyphenols and antioxidant effects, but in females it has nice regulating and fertility properties as well…curious
