Any way to train my girls to eat slugs again?

I've posted about this before, because we have tons of slugs here. I actually used to chop them up for my girls, and every once in a while they would eat one. As soon as mine are full grown and begin laying, I think I will restrict the amount of feed I give them to see if it will make them a little bit more resourceful. They don't even eat worms, which I thought were like chicken caviar. I want to experiment and see if they can survive in a backyard setting purely by free-ranging. We'll see how it goes.

Slugs carry TONS of parasites, if yours aren't eating them, consider youself lucky!

Can the parasites affect the birds at all? What about parasites in other insects?
