I'm done, thank God! But I think I've reached the point where I'm so tired I can't sleep

I've been scouring the web trying to decide what to hatch next... just reading, reading, reading

This chicken addiction came out of nowhere

It must be a rather common disorder, or a contagious disease! I, too have been afflicted!
barnie.gif
Symptoms I notice include: I find myself obsessively preoccupied with chickens!

I look at unrelated items (PVC pipe) and see how they can become useful in the chicken yard.

I forage around junk, figuring how to build yet another coop without spending money!

and so on, and so forth.

You, too?

Yup! And DH is an enabler! He's built a permanent coop and a tractor since we got chickens in May. I'm wondering where these new ones are gonna go. He's thinking about converting a portion of our storage shed into a coop

He's out of town tonight, so that leaves me here to "research"

The next additions

I think if I don't go to bed soon, I won't be able to get up and let the silkies out of the tractor coop. The "big girls" can get in the run whenever they want, but the poor fuzzies have to be locked up and let out. I feel bad when I sleep in and they're trapped in there all morning.

Keep the hatch updates coming! I'll catch up when I get up

Nash, did you ever go to bed???!?

I got 2 out of the first batch of 10, and I have a 4 due today, but fear they may not make it...and only 1 of the third batch made it this far, so it's due Saturday.

This is very sad for the owner of these eggs having started with 28 eggs...lots of infertiles and tons of quitters.

I did get to tell her about the 2 that made it, and she's happy about them, but since these were all REALLY expensive (like $5 an egg!) it's disheartening.

The gal who sold her the Penedesencas will be sending more, since 8 of 13 were infertile. That's good.

I've vowed not to get my own incubator because I don't think I could do anything but sit and stare all day...and now I know this is the truth...I'm sooooooo tempted to build my own!! I have a design unlike most I've seen in mind, and I think it would work beautifully!!!

(rubbing hands together and grinning mischievously....)

I'm in sooooooo much trouble!!

I think I slept about 3 1/2 hours before I got up to let the silkies out. I love those little guys

Of course I had to run down and check the brooder too

I think I've slept very few hours since Tuesday afternoon when the first pip came.

There's always next week for sleeping... oh wait, I think I'm starting the next hatch then

I feel bad about your friend's birds. It's sad to have a poor hatch with expensive eggs ON TOP OF having to cull due to mass sickness

You're a kind friend to try to help her (from a distance... long distance). Maybe a few unsuspected ones with pull out a surprise

I'm afraid I wouldn't be much help in encouraging you to stay strong against the hatch addiction. I toyed with it for a couple of months, then DH came in one day and said "just go ahead and get an incubator." That was it! It was over! Now the only obstacle is where we're going to put all these little cuties when they get bigger

I've gotta say... I want you to build the bator cuz I want to see it! And cuz obsession loves company
