I wasn't referring to you specifically, just more of a general "fear" (and I'm using that term loosely) of AI in the zeitgeist of this particular time periodFor the record, I'm not afraid of AI. But I have a background in research and I trust my own ability to sift through sources more than I trust AI to do it. I'm not knocking anyone for using it, it's just my policy not to use it.
Sure I get all that. But I hope to make it to my deathbed without using it intentionally.I wasn't referring to you specifically, just more of a general "fear" (and I'm using that term loosely) of AI in the zeitgeist of this particular time period.
I am also in a research/evidence-based field, so I have confidence in my abilities to find and understand reliable sources, too, but I also find GPT useful for some things.
Since not everyone has the same ability to research (or understand research articles), GPT can gather many resources and put them in one place for the user to comb through in a more organized and understandable manner. Whether or not it can be trusted is heavily dependent on the context in which it is being utilized.
Am I going to use it to write a dissertation on the effects of antipsychotic pharmaceutical use in autistic children? Absolutely not. Could it help me organize an outline and general flow of ideas for said project? Probably. Might it be useful in helping someone decide what kind of litter to use or how to place ventilation in their chicken coop in GA? Absolutely yes.
Edited to add: I respect your decision not to use AI. I also believe it can be a very beneficial tool for many people (with some understanding of how it works).
Understood!Sure I get all that. But I hope to make it to my deathbed without using it intentionally.
