I was wondering and having a discussion with DH about this. Do they call them "Game" because they have a "Gamey" taste like a wild bird or do they call them that because of the "sport" they are used for?

I don't think this is talked about on here but I will say it's not about the taste. I've never known anyone who has ate one though.

They are called "games" because they are English Game chickens not because of the way they taste. They taste just like chicken but I don't think they have very much meat on them.

yes, they are very slender... he said that a friend of his told him that they taste gamey and that is why they were called that... I did not think that was true... Has anyone ever ate one?

Yup, many years ago I have eaten several. A friend of a friend gave me some of the losers of the game. They were skinny, tough as rubber bands when being processed and chewy but they did taste like chicken after simmering in a crock pot all day.
