I was wanting to order some golden laced polish from murray mcmurray. Was wanting to know if they are at least decent looking golden laced polish?Would anybody like to share some pics of their golden laced polish from murray mcmurray? Thanks

I got some a long time ago- no longer have the pics handy. Back in 2003. They were gorgeous, would have won at any show if Hurricane Isabel hadn't killed them. Out of 25 chicks 5 were beautiful show birds. I had planned to show them. If I can find the pics in an old photo album I will scan them in & post for you. I would go for it. They do have nice stock in that breed/variety.

The ones I had from there were described by the vice pres. of the Polish society as some of the best Polish he had seen in years. So yes.. I would defiantly order them given past experience. This was just 2yrs ago.

just be sure to ask them about their shipping. They now hatch only on thurs and friday for shipping on saturdays via priority mail. any hold up and youre looking at dead chicks. Im hearing about this all over and am trying to pass the word because I lost an entire box of 27 mixed polish and houdans.
Just ask them about shipping and know that as much as they will give you a refund, you may lose some chicks to the extra day and that they wont/cant ship express anymore.
take your chance...its one of the few hatcheries where Ive found houdans but they all died unfortunately.

humm I don't think they do that anymore because my chicks are to arrive on the 18th - 20th. They will be shipped on a Sat I believe.

Thats exactly what I said. They are not hatched on a saturday, but on a thurs or Friday...all chicks ship on saturday from McMurray now.
They only ship priority, not express...call them and tell them you want to upgrade your shipping and see what they say. They will tell you that they cant ship express anymore.
they will say that they only ship on saturdays via priority mail.
My chicks arrived on tuesday morning dead. according to the info on the box, they were hatchined on the thursday before.
I requested replacements and that they be shipped on a weekday by express, which is usual for hatcheries, and I was told that the post office there only allows them to ship on saturdays and that is all that available.
I dont much like the cross beaks that Im hearing about alot, and the one that survived here that had a cross beak, only to die 2 wks later....but I really dont like the shipping.
Just call to confirm this and then realize that youre taking your chances.
This is a new situaiton from what I understand and it cant stand....especially if the post office shuts down saturday service.

When I called the man said that this is not a new shipping method they have done it like this for 90yrs.. However I do remember they used to ship on Monday, so I question the 90yr thing as Im only 45. He did say they would fully replace the order if they died.. however that doesn't help. I live in Iowa, not far from the hatchery however can't go get the chicks (3hour drive) and my truck is going in to the shop the 23rd, not a good time for a 6 hour round trip. I guess I will just wait and see what happens.

Doubt they do - Of my 2 Silver Laced that survived, only one had beautiful lacing and a decent body/crest but too big of comb. I've seen other people's Golden Laced from Murray McMurray they were trying to sell before though, and they were ugly. I'm talking stringy, sparse looking crests, horrible "spangled" lacing, huge combs, mangly looking bodies. . .

Well that's to be expected of any hatchery birds, but with McMurray, if you order enough (25 or more) of their Golden Laced Polish, you may get a few SQ birds! I got 5 out of 25 plus the 3 extras. Sometimes you do get lucky. Just order a lot and cull heavily.
