You are making my point for me. Thank you!
I didn't mean to disparage you personally, just throw a monkey wrench into the machinery of the "Broody COTURNIX" crowd, that seams to have more dollars than sense, and more time and money than I possess.
You may call that "jealousy", if you will, but I'm a brass tacks kind of person. "The Bottom Line"
Bottom line, is...That if you are serious about raising COTURNIX, or game birds in general, then you will need a bator, brooder, and be willing to incubate, and brood every egg yourself. It sounds hard to most, but much easier than caring for a broody coturnix hen that nets you 3 out of ?, and has an IQ slightly higher than dirt.
The small scale broody coturnix hen thread needs it's own sticky, so people who want to raise quail on a small scale can go there for info...(I promise I will never post there).
Just my opinion!
Believe it or not, some people do have birds just for the fun of it.
From what I've seen, most of us posting are in it for the fun of it, same as most (of course not all) of the chicken owners who use this forum. We all ask questions, share stories, commiserate with each other. What I'd like to see is a section, not just a single thread, but a whole new section that is specifically for "Ask the Expert" type quail posts. There is a lot of value to what is offered up in advice, but there is also leagues of difference in the goals of high production breeders and those of us who are actually enjoying quail on the same level as our chickens (each one has a name!) as pets.
I didn't want to pull this off topic and I apologize to the OP.
