We've got a broody cotournix quail hen, and we're aware we have to keep an eye on the situation and step in if she does a poor job, however we are wondering do you have to separate a broody quail like you do a broody chicken in order to keep the chicks safe from the rest of the flock?

It's a good idea. You will need to watch to not only step in if she quits being broody, but to take the chicks away from her if she turns out to be a neglectful or abusive parent.
Thanks! You are so helpful and knowledgeable!
