Hi everyone, I've just started to get comments from my husband about how his eggs smell or taste a little fishy...

I just started using oyster shell derived grit to supplament their feed in the last 2 weeks.

I was wondering if using oyster type grit/calcium supplaments can be the reason my eggs have begun to taste a little fishy, and if there is anything I can use as an alternative for a calcium supplament?

It maybe your feed. Some contain fish meal and if thats all they eat it will flavor them. Gloria Jean

We use oyster shells for calcium. No fishy taste here.

We did get fishy eggs when they started getting into the turkey feed- which uses fish meal for extra protien. Odd, because the layer feed uses it too, only 2% less.

I use oyster shells too. No fishy taste her either...
