Anybody heard from Tractor Supply, about Chick Days ?

I just came back from TSC and get 6 chicks. 5 plymouths and 1 random from the red pullet bin.

It did not occur to me to ask them and I may cal them later, but do they sell roosters??!!? Beause I just assumed they were all hens!!

At the farm store, they were marked "Pullets" or "Straight Run."

We got chicks at TSC now, but I didn't notice them too much. Bought my new chicks from the farm store today.

I just called them. :::sigh::: it was a straight run for the Barred. :::sigh::: So potentially, I could have bought 5 roosters.

...great...

Barred rocks are usually sexable at this age with some degree of reliability. Check for big messy head spots - more likely to be a boy. When they feather in, usually the boys will be lighter than the girls. There are always exceptions, but that's one way to guess if picking from the straight run bin.

The bantams were marked as straight run, so I have no idea what my 7 chicks will be either. Hope I get lucky with at least a few nice girls. There's one I really like so far... really hope it's a girl!

I went to the Latrobe TSC and they had Red Pullets, Tetra Tint Pullets and Straight run Light Bramah's marked 50% off

I called the one in Delmont and they had Red Pullets and Black Pullets

I picked up 2 Mallards last night, and they had Tetra Tint Pullets that just came in.

Just got our chicks from TSC today! We got 5 Buff Orpingtons! I am so excited! There was one bin marked "straight run" so I'm assuming all mine were sexed (and were hens). I have wanted and researched getting chickens for the past year. So excited to finally have them!

Straight run means that the chicks are a mix of boys and girls. You are now the proud owner of a couple of cockerels, most likely.

What are Tetra tint? Never heard of them.

We just got sucked in... somebody should have told me no!!! I already have 10 RIR chicks from a breeder. Now I have 12 bantams and 6 California whites to add! My layers also give me 4-6 eggs a day... I am going to be over run!
Of course the bantams dont have a breed list. I had chosen the oddballs and then let the kids pick.
They had mallards, don't want them. Barred rocks, pullet bin, broilers and California whites.

I had called around to several tsc. One won't get chicks for 3 months!!! One has been closed since tornados took it out last year. Another had just 10 chicks. The one we went to had about 200 birds.
