Anybody in Indiana?

I'm just north of Indy in Anderson.

I only have 2 chickens at the moment...but eventually I'll be getting more. I'm partial to Ameracaunas and EE's.

I love my Ameraucanas. My son loves the blue eggs. It took me forever to find my little flock of Ameraucanas. I can't wait to start showing them. Is anyone going to the show in Lebanon? I am new to showing chickens. I didn't know if they needed to have the blood test before the show or if they did it at when you got to the show.

Sebrightmom(?) did you recently offer some black Ameraucana hatching eggs on Hoosier Topics?

If so I want to be able to contact you in the early spring if possible. Thanx!

Yes I did. I thought I would past my enjoyment of this breed to others. I have eggs in my incubator now. I hated to try to hatch this late in the year, but I wanted some babies. I have 48 eggs in the incubator. Only half are mine. If I get alot of chicks, I will have some for sell. The other eggs are mixed brown layers from down the road. She wanted to see if her boys had what it takes. I candled them lastnight. Looked like I only have four not growing at all, but those were all the other eggs. She has over 80 hens and only 4 roosters. So, they are busy boys. But I did see eggs from both groups that look like they stopped growing. I knew that might be a chance, because our power was out for about 3 hours. I didn't know it until I got home. I wasn't a happy camper. But that was only 5 eggs. So out of 48 eggs, it looks like 39 are still doing great. I just hope they do good for the last week. This is my second time hatching since I was a child. It is a new learning experience. I am hoping to get some blues from my rooster. Since he is my only blue, I wanted some others just incase. It took me forever to get him. I also have a hen on 12+ eggs. I am hoping she is going to hatch out some too. I just hope one way or another I will get some chicks.

I would be interested in chicks or fertile eggs. I have not had good luck with eggs going thru the post office. I think they nuke them no matter what is cautioned on the box. Anyway, forget the early spring, anytime you have chicks or eggs (black Ameraucana) let me know.
