Adenocarcinoma or cancer. It can be common in the oviduct and intestines.

Does one discard the meat of such a bird?

They find this incidentally sometimes when chickens are butchered commercially, and those carcasses are discarded. I would imagine that some do eat the meat, but it would bother me to do that.
