GROSS WARNING Two weeks ago my chicken was attacked by a hawk. She seemed to be paralyzed, couldn’t move her right leg at all, no reflexes. She has been making improvements and is hopping around now. There is 1 very deep puncture. It filled up with a hard pus? I didn’t get a picture🤦‍♀️ The puncture is on her right hip area. I sprayed it with blue kote after cleaning it up. I don’t know what happened to her foot, it was totally fine, I wrapped and splinted her leg bc I left for vacation. The swelling started after the splint and wrap was off for a few days. I think it’s too far gone, but wondering if this has happened to anyone and what might work? In the last picture, the puncture is maybe 1/4 in deep…felt deep for a chicken head is to the right, tail to the left, and my hand is on that hip shoulder thing. Is there anything I can do for Splits?

The splint may have been on too tight, and the tissue looks necrotic/dead on one toe. She will lose the toe for sure. Can you get a picture of both legs together?

One thing that helps when it comes to bandaging something is to put vet wrap on so it is secure but not too tight then putting on tape. I usually use the medical tape. This way it doesn't come off easily.
